I have been using alternative seating in my room for about three years now. I have seen an increase in attentiveness and work completion from certain students who use the alternative seating. The mind/body movement through a sensory approach in the classroom has been researched for a while now. Findings are showing educators are able to meet the needs of a variety of either under or over-stimulated students through the movement alternative seating offers. Being able to reach these students has led to improved academic and behavior performance because students are able to self regulate better and access the curriculum being taught.
