What We Fund

Due to the generous support from many organizations and individuals in the community, the Blaine County Education Foundation is currently providing support in four key areas:

Can Do Fund is available for students with financial needs to pay for school related expenses. This fund was created to help meet the needs of students and families who are struggling financially. The best source of information is school social workers, principals and secretaries. All of the requests are confidential.

Grants to educators of up to $500.00 per teacher are available to all Blaine County School District teachers. Funds are available to meet classroom needs aligned with the BCSD Strategic Plan and the mission and values of the BCEF. The grants are designed to fund innovative projects with clearly identified outcomes and measurements. The BCEF is committed to equitable education opportunities among all 8 schools in the district. Grants are evaluated by school committees and given final approval by the BCEF board.  In addition to grants, the BCEF provides scholarships for the CSI Summer Spanish Institute.  This week-long intensive program provides a rich oppurtunity for educators to develop Spanish language proficiency to better communicate with spanis speaking students.

Can Do Academy is designed to provide supplemental educational activities for students in Blaine County schools.  Currently, extracurricular Spanish Language courses are being started at Hemingway, Hailey and Bellevue Elementary Schools with funding support by the Blaine County Education Foundation.  BCEF has created the CAN DO Academy to provide targeted funds in areas that the school district may no longer provide such as after-school enrichment programs and professional.

Student Scholarship administration.    Various groups and individuals in the community have established scholarships for graduating Wood River High School students.  The BCEF provides investment and administrative functions for the scholarships.  Approximately, 10 scholarships administered by the BCEF are provided each year.
